Clinical physio-led pilates

At Fingal Physiotherapy we hold qualifications from the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute, which has been designed by Physiotherapists for use in the rehabilitation setting to aid recovery and prevent future injury. Pilates focuses on increasing mobility, strength and endurance of the muscles throughout your body, but in particular you spine, pelvis, hips and shoulders. However we offer one to one Pilates which will focus on your individual needs. We specialise in beginner and intermediate Pilates, Pilates for runners, mat work and equipment and in prenatal pregnancy and post-natal Pilates.

Acupuncture / dry needling

At Fingal Physiotherapy we hold postgraduate qualifications and training in Acupuncture for Musculoskeletal conditions and dry needling. Dry needling can be used to decreased hypertonicity in muscles, for trigger point therapy and myofascial pain. We use acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine meridians to decreased pain. However both dry needling and acupuncture can be used to ultimately decrease your pain, improve your mobility, contractability of a muscle and improve performance.

Sports injuries

At our clinic, Fingal Physiotherapy, we come from high level sporting backgrounds and fully understand how it feels to be injured and the want and need to return to play both safely and quickly. We have extensive experience and postgraduate qualifications in the area of sports and recreational injuries. We treat acute and chronic injuries using only the highest standards of care and treatment plans, that are evidence based on the latest research.

Injury prevention conditioning

One of the core elements of Sports Medicine is the prevention of injuries, as the biggest risk for most injuries it previous injury. Therefore, we pride ourselves in providing outstanding treatments accompanied with knowledge to our patients on how injuries occur and in some case continue if not treated right. We offers services, including sports specific tests, which look in debt at the body’s ability to cope with the stresses we put on it, with the goal of preventing injury and reinjury.

Running clinic

We are passionate about keeping you exercising, running and performing at your best. If you want to improve you performance or have a little niggle that doesn’t seem to be resolving despite previous interventions then out run clinic is for you. We will take a full injury history, assess your mobility, balance and strength and then do a full 2D biomechanical assessment of your running style on our treadmill. We use technology that is leading the market today in sports analysis, and following diagnosis, we will provide treatment strategies to optimise your performance, decrease your pain, and decrease your risk of injury.

Neck and back pain

Research has shown that nearly all of us will suffer at least one episode in our lives of neck or back pain. However, for a significant amount of us this pain can become chronic. Whether your pain is acute or chronic, we at Fingal Physiotherapy keep a breast with up to date research in the causes, risk factors and best treatments for back and neck pain. Centre to our treatments strategies is an holistic approach. We have extensive experience in working in with chronic neck and back pain, including participation in research trials.

Research has shown that physiotherapy prior to an operation can significantly increase the success and outcome after various types of operations. At Fingal Physiotherapy we have extensive experience in helping our patients return to desired sport or level of function post operation. The following list are some of the more common presentations that we particularly help with, however please don’t hesitate to contact us if your surgery is not listed below:

This is the latest and one of the most advanced non-invasive technology that offers exceptional treatment for muscle and injuries. It uses soundwave impulses that are directed into the damaged tissue using a compressor, which promote self-healing, i.e it encourages the body to heal itself. It offers an alternative to anti-inflammatory medicines traditionally used as pain relief in these situations.
EWST can help with a broad range of injuries, including :
Achilles tendinopathy
Rotator cuff tendon
Plantar fasciitis
Chronic plantar fasciitis
Patellar tendinopathy
Shoulder Tendon pain
