Your First Appointment
Manual Therapy / Sport Massage
Stiff and tight joints and muscles will benefit from hugely from a variety of advanced physiotherapy specific techniques. Our highly skilled physiotherapists will choose from a range of methods tailored to your needs to manipulate joints to relive discomfort and optimise movement. Sports massage can be especially beneficial to relieve tension and post activity fatigue. At Fingal Physiotherapy our experts can work on fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments to relieve pain, optimise ability and ultimately get you performing better.
Acupuncture and Dry Needling
At Fingal Physiotherapy we hold postgraduate qualifications and training in Acupuncture for Musculoskeletal conditions and dry needling. We use acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine meridians to decrease pain, enhance functional and sporting performance and wellbeing. Dry needling can be used to decrease hypertonicity in muscles, for trigger point therapy and myofascial pain. However, both dry needling and acupuncture can be used to ultimately decrease your pain, improve your mobility, contractability of a muscle and overall get the very best out of you and improve performance.
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (EWST)
This is the latest and one of the most advanced non-invasive technologies that offers exceptional treatment for muscle and injuries. It uses soundwave impulses that are directed into the damaged tissue using a compressor, which promote self-healing, i.e it encourages the body to heal itself. It offers an alternative to anti-inflammatory medicines traditionally used as pain relief in these situations.

Strength assessments and fitness testing
At Fingal Physiotherapy we hill postgraduate qualifications in Strength and Conditioning with some of our therapists being National Strength and Conditioning coaches. Strength and Conditioning can improve your velocity at VO2max, your running economy, overall sports performance, maximum and reactive strength and prevent injury and falls. Strength and Conditioning is for all levels, of all ages and of all abilities. At Fingal Physiotherapy we hold national certificates in Strength and Conditioning along with being certified in exercise prescription for older adults. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that all ages participate in weight bearing exercises, such as Strength and Conditioning at least twice per week.

Injury prevention
At Fingal Physiotherapy we pride ourselves in our Sports Medicine background. We know that one of the biggest risks of getting an injury is a history of previous injury. Therefore, injury prevent is paramount. We want to stop you getting an injury in the first place and if you have attained an injury, we want to prevent it from returning. The phase prevention rather than cure has great steed.
Depending on your age, activity level, sport and goals we will select a range of physical qualities assess and put in place a treatment plan or rehab program with the aim of preventing further injury
Therapeutic Ultrasound
Therapeutic Ultrasound can provide deep heating to soft tissue structures in the body. Deep heating tendons, muscles, or ligaments could have the following benefits:
